World of Wa–WTF Is That?

Sprink and the Art of Ganking.

I was totally going to put something April Fools’ related here, but since I’ve been gone for so long, I figured I’d put something else. So, just insert your own April Fools’ joke here. Go ahead. I’ll wait. ^_^

But, in light of my recent return from the land of Final Fantasy, I’ve found myself playing more on the RP realms I have characters on (Thanks, SAN! ^_^) than the PvP realms. Which, as we all know, makes me a dirty carebear. ~_^ It got me thinking though, back to the first time I fell victim to another player.

There I was, minding my own business in Tarren Mill when out of no where, these horrible monsters with levels unknown fell upon the town like… well, like a plague. The poor undead denizens of Tarren Mill stood no chance. And neither did that poor little mage who was complaining about having to kill the apothecary’s frog and how stupid of a quest it was. I never saw the druid that hit me. At least, not until after I was already dead. I ran back to my corpse and, figuring they would just run through, kill everything and leave, ran out the door and into… Moonfire. The skies opened up and vomited light onto my head, one-shotting me. I ended up finally making my way to the Inn, and hiding out there while Valgav logged in on his Warrior and proceeded to trade blows with the level ?? monster.

How did things end? Well, I kinda logged out in the Inn when things started going too bad and opted to play on my DS instead. When I logged in again, Tarren Mill was acting like nothing had happened. I asked one of the townspeople whether this was an everyday occurrence or not, but all they offered was “I hear you were enlisted by Darthalia to wage war on the humans of Hillsbrad. So jealous I am…” Confused, I went on my merry way collecting more skulls for these people, always wondering if I was going to come back to a ghost town.

Which brings me to the other side of the coin. When was the first actual kill I got on an Alliance player? Let’s just say I think Sprink has a thing against shamans…

I was questing in Azshara, trying to find my way up the mountain to do that bloody mage quest. As I was wondering, an erratically moving creature with a red name above it caught my eye. I watch carefully, and it drops these things on the ground that look like… are those totems? Is that… is that the legendary unescorted Alliance? Is this my lucky day? He ran around a large jutting rock, and I carefully climbed said rock until I could see him. Did he see me? Nope. Still killing griffins. I launched two fireballs, then a fireblast, a scorch, and holy bejeebus an honourable kill! All by my onesies! I celebrated by dancing around, only to have to run frantically away from the level ?? Alliance that spotted me dancing like an idiot in the middle of Azshara.

So where does this leave me? Originally, I rolled a few characters on an RP server because I wanted to try WoW RP, being an experienced pencil and paper roleplayer. And there was that little added bonus of not having to run back to your corpse 20 times because a death knight had a bad day and decided to take it out on the lowbies. However, not too many people were RPing on the server I chose, and since now it’s a low population server, there probably won’t be much opportunity in the future unless the population goes up. And while RP is awesome, there’s a small part of me that wants the fear of being spotted by the opposing side. There’s a part of me that wants to spend an afternoon desecrating Southshore like it’s Tarren Mill. And, most importantly, I want to be able to go to Straglethorn and randomly polymorph level 30 Alliance just to mess with their heads. ^_^

Guess that means I’m a PvP server girl at heart. ^_^ Do you have a preference for server types? Then, comment! Comment, I say!

  • None
  • Sprink: @Veng I still have to do the other side of the centaur, and I just stepped foot into Silithis, so I feel like I'm pretty much right on track for Kali
  • Tam: Wow, congratulations. I am far too lazy for this kind of thing - but I love the Darrowshire questline, it's beautiful. And, not being on a PvP server
  • Markus: Good luck! I think I am about 200 quests from completing the Kalimdor portion. Going back to Desolace for those quests just makes me want to hurl.

What’s That, Back There?
